The value marked an increase of 28985.7% over the previous month and a rise of 629.7% when compared with the last 12-month average of $1.56bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a rise of 7.9% over the last 12-month average with 41 deals against the average of 38 deals.

In value terms, Asia-Pacific led the activity with deals worth $11.31bn.

The top five drinks deals accounted for 99.5% of the overall value during July 2019.

The combined value of the top five drinks deals stood at $11.34bn, against the overall value of $11.39bn recorded for the month.

1) Asahi Group Holdings’ $11.3bn acquisition of Carlton & United Breweries

2) The $20m venture financing of Health-Ade by CAVU Venture Partners and First Drinks Ventures

3) Cool Japan Fund’s $10m venture financing of Winc

4) The $3.4m venture financing of kencko foods by Kairos Ventures, LocalGlobe, Max Ventures (New York), NextView Ventures and Techstars Accelerator

5) Desjardins Regional and Cooperative Capital, Growth & Transition Capital, Investissement Quebec, Jean-Francois Nellis and Vincent Coderre’s private equity deal with Microbrasserie Pit Caribou for $2.59m.
