US-based coffee company Starbucks has introduced its new Blonde Espresso in the US market.

To become available at more than 8,000 stores across the country, the beverage will join other handcrafted beverages such as Starbucks Signature, Starbucks Caffe Latte, Cappuccino, Flat White, Macchiato and Americano beverages.

Starbucks US Retail president Kris Engskov said:  “Our partners are so passionate about their craft and now they get to help our customers discover and personalise the foundation of the beverage, an espresso that is either bold and rich or smooth and bright.

“The new espresso will be added to Starbucks’ lighter roast portfolio, which includes Starbucks Blonde Roast coffees.”

“We want every experience our customers have with us to be perfect for them.”

The release of Blonde Espresso in the US follows the positive responses gained from partners and customers regarding its launch in Canada last year.

The new espresso will be added to Starbucks’ lighter roast portfolio, which includes Starbucks Blonde Roast coffees, which was introduced as whole bean packaged coffee and brewed options in 2012.

Starbucks Global Coffee vice-president Andrew Linnemann said: “We set the standard for a dark, boldly roasted coffee and in this case, we broke a few of our own rules by taking a lighter approach to espresso which created a bright taste with sweet citrus notes and a smooth body.”
