Wood's High Mountain Distillery in Salida, Colorado has launched its Tenderfoot Whiskey in a resealable 750ml aluminium bottle.

Called the Backcountry Bottle, the new packaging provides an alternative to glass where a glass bottle is not feasible or allowed, such as for camping and river rafting trips.

Wood's High Mountain Distillery co-owner and head distiller PT Wood said: "After years of taking glass bottles on numerous rafting and backcountry ski trips we've been looking for a lighter, non-glass alternative for spirits. When the opportunity to package our spirits in aluminium bottles became available we had to jump on it and we're thrilled to have it available to our customers."

Lighter and more compact than traditional glass and less fragile when impacted, the Backcountry Bottle's packaging is designed for consumers with active lifestyles who want to enjoy a small-batch whiskey.

Aluminium packaging provides environmental benefits over glass as it is much lighter and has a lower environmental impact due to the high recycled content used in the Backcountry Bottle's manufacturing process.

Produced from five malted grains, Tenderfoot Whiskey is a malt whiskey aged in new American Oak and bottled at 45% alcohol by volume.

Its products are currently distributed in Colorado and New Jersey in the US, and Italy.
