US-based Swire Coca-Cola has opened a new distribution centre at 4,600 High Plains Boulevard in Johnstown, Colorado.

In June last year, the company broke ground on the 126,000ft2 facility, which covers an 11.2 acre area at I-25 and Highway 34. The facility is expected to serve nearly 2,900 customers across Northern Colorado, including Denver’s North Metro suburbs, Loveland, Fort Collins, Greeley, and Estes Park.

Swire Coca-Cola further plans to hire local workers to support the Johnstown operations.

Johnstown's Mayor Scott James said: “The Town of Johnstown is thrilled to welcome a quality business like Swire and an iconic brand like Coca-Cola to our rapidly growing 2534 development. Swire Coca-Cola is widely recognised as an outstanding employer and desirable corporate citizen.

"The primary sector jobs created by this state of the art facility will add to the economic richness and diversity rapidly taking shape."

“The primary sector jobs created by this state of the art facility will add to the economic richness and diversity rapidly taking shape. Johnstown is honoured to be chosen by Swire Coca-Cola as their home in Northern Colorado.”

The facility features 51 truck stalls transporting 4.5 million cases of product annually and will assume a shift of some of Denver’s current distribution volume.

The company anticipates that its new distribution facility will further enhance its efficiency to meet its customer’s demands.

Coca-Cola and Swire Coca-Cola agreed in 2013 to transfer operations of production and distribution in Colorado of Denver and Colorado Springs territories to Swire Coca-Cola.
