Global coffee company Starbucks has introduced new beverage Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino for its customers in the US and Canada.

The company has also re-introduced its blended beverage S’mores Frappuccino across its stores in North America.

Jennica Robinson from Starbucks beverage development team said: “We started by thinking of the heydays of summer. We were inspired by thoughts of dark starry nights, looking up at the sky with a cool summer breeze.”

The new Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino is a layered beverage made with scoops of extra-dark cocoa blended with coffee, milk, and ice. These are then infused with cooling mint sugar crystals and cut with a layer of whipped cream.

"Mint is instantly cooling. It contrasts with the dark cocoa and whipped cream for a balanced, refreshing beverage."

The drink is topped with more whipped cream and a dusting of dark cocoa.

Starbucks' beverage development manager Ryan Coombes said: “Mint is instantly cooling. It contrasts with the dark cocoa and whipped cream for a balanced, refreshing beverage. People are gravitating toward vibrant colours. Jet black is filling the void in unexpected places.”

In addition to these two drinks, Starbucks will introduce new Protein Boxes and two new Teavana ready-to-drink craft teas across selected stores in North America.

Protein Boxes include fruits and vegetables and feature chicken and turkey raised without antibiotics.
