Global coffee company Starbucks has launched two new macchiato beverages, Coconutmilk Mocha Macchiato and Iced Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato, at its US and Canada stores.

The new additions are available only for a limited period.

Starbucks beverage development team member Yoke Wong said: “With macchiato, we first pour the steamed milk and then add the espresso. The result is a coffee-forward flavour with beautiful layers.”

Starbucks Coconutmilk Mocha Macchiato is a hot beverage featuring espresso shots poured over steamed coconut milk and has a hint of white chocolate mocha sauce. It also includes caramel sauce and a swirl of mocha sauce, creating five layers of espresso sweetness.

"The original inspiration for the beverage is from horchata, a popular beverage in Spain and Latin America."

Starbucks Iced Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato is a cold beverage that features espresso, almond milk and cinnamon dolce syrup and is topped with caramel cross-hatch and a sprinkle of cinnamon dolce topping.

Wong added: “The original inspiration for the beverage is from horchata, a popular beverage in Spain and Latin America.

“It is traditionally made with almond or rice milk and spices like cinnamon, and it is served hot or cold.”

The two new drinks are added to an existing macchiato lineup at Starbucks that includes the Espresso Macchiato, Latte Macchiato and Caramel Macchiato.
