US-based distributor Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits is planning to upgrade and expand its storage centre in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey.

The firm plans to equip and upgrade the new distribution automation technology and equipment to support operations in Syosset, New York. It is also aimed to improve customer service and meet growing demand in the state.

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits' New York general manager and executive vice-president Larry Goodrich said: “It’s been nearly 12 years since Southern Glazer entered the New York market, representing some of the world’s leading wine and spirits brands.

“As a result of our successes, we’re making this new investment in our infrastructure so we can meet the needs of our customers.

Southern Glazer’s current 350,000ft² Syosset distribution centre will continue existing operations in collaboration with the 286,000ft² Port Elizabeth facility. Post expansion, this facility will be able to service more than two million cases annually.

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits currently operates in 44 US states and the District of Columbia, as well as Canada and the Caribbean with more than 20,000 employees.
