Belgium-based beer manufacturer Rodenbach Brewery has launched a new fruit infused beer packaged in cans in the US.

Named Rodenbach Fruitage, the new beer is made with fruit infusions using age-old brewing techniques. It comprises a blend of 25% authentically aged Rodenbach, matured for two years from oak standing Foeders and 75% young Rodenbach ale along with cherries and elderberries.

Rodenbach Brewery master brewer Rudi Ghequire said: "This is an exciting new innovation in our legendary portfolio of beers, and we're thrilled to offer this product in the United States.

"Rodenbach Fruitage is a light and refreshing beverage that is full of flavour, perfectly balanced and compliments a variety of foods and occasions."

With shipping planned to commence in April, the new Rodenbach Fruitage will be available in a pack of four from May.

"Rodenbach Fruitage opens the door to a new generation of craft beer drinkers to the legendary Rodenbach portfolio."

Rodenbach Brewery US importer David van Wees said: "Rodenbach Fruitage opens the door to a new generation of craft beer drinkers to the legendary Rodenbach portfolio.

"Consumers are seeking alternatives to the heavier beer selections, and Rodenbach Fruitage offers a lighter style of beer that is both refreshing and filled with flavour, in keeping with authentic Rodenbach brewing practises."

To be available in slim, 8.5oz cans, the firm has tested the 4.2% alcohol by volume beer last year in draught version.

Founded in 1821, Rodenbach develops various beer offerings such as sour ale and mixed-fermentation Flanders red-brown beer.
