US-based wine brand Ménage à Trois has introduced a new Chardonnay, Ménage à Trois GOLD.

Chardonnay is the largest varietal type in the US; it is an annual $2.4bn-dollar category and constitutes 16% of all wine sales.

Ménage à Trois launched its Midnight and Silk red blends in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

"We're excited to offer consumers a decadent Chardonnay experience at this price point."

The addition of GOLD takes the brand's portfolio of wine offerings to sixteen.

Ménage à Trois wines senior marketing director Mark Dunlea said: "We're excited to offer consumers a decadent Chardonnay experience at this price point.

"A rich, indulgent Chardonnay like GOLD is a rare find at such an accessible price."

Ménage à Trois was launched in 1996 with one wine, is a blend of three red varietals. It was added to the Trinchero Family Estates portfolio in 2004.

The company claims that Ménage à Trois GOLD is a blend of chardonnay, viognier and verdelho, and exhibits aromas of tropical fruit, sweet vanilla and brown spice. It also states that the wine has a buttery smooth palette of caramel, pineapple and melon flavours.

It is available for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $12.
