Australia’s logistics solution provider Linfox has acquired the remaining 50% stake of joint venture (JV) BevChain from Lion.

BevChain was jointly established by Linfox and Lion. With the new deal, Linfox will now take full ownership of the JV.

This acquisition will mark Linfox's entry into the beverage segment, focusing on alcoholic and non-alcoholic products. Lion intends to resume focusing on its core beer business.

Linfox CEO Annette Carey said: “BevChain began in 2006 to provide a specialised service to the alcoholic beverage industry. We plan to grow the business further by expanding into new sectors within the broader beverage industry.

"This acquisition will mark Linfox's entry into the beverage segment, focusing on alcoholic and non-alcoholic products."

“The acquisition is aligned to Linfox’s growth strategy and we will continue to invest in sectors where we see an opportunity for growth.”

BevChain will continue to operate as an independent business entity, providing its services to some of the major brands in the liqueur, beer, wine, and energy drink categories including many leading Australian and international brands.

The two companies will also continue their partnership, with BevChain providing warehousing and distribution services for Lion’s Australian beer.
