Plant-based protein beverage maker Koia is set to expand its portfolio with the addition of two new flavours in the US market.

The new Cold Brew Coffee and Cinnamon Horchata drinks will be joining the company's existing beverage lineup that includes Vanilla Bean, Cacao Bean and Coconut Almond.

The company also noted that it has reduced the prices of its products and will now be retailed for $4.99.

Koia’s two new beverages will initially be available at Whole Foods Markets in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona, and will be rolled out to other regions at a later stage.

Koia explains that its drinks have been produced using a proprietary blend of brown rice, hemp and pea protein, and contains a five-to-one ratio of plant protein to sugar content.

"Our goal is to offer a superior protein beverage, one that fits into a healthy consumer lifestyle and doesn't compromise on ingredients or flavour."

The non-GMO drinks are claimed to be free from soy, dairy and gluten.

Koia co-founder Dustin Baker said: "Our goal is to offer a superior protein beverage, one that fits into a healthy consumer lifestyle and doesn't compromise on ingredients or flavour.

"With our new Cold Brew Coffee, we're bringing the added functionality of coffee to our already great-tasting protein beverage, making a really attractive combination of two booming product segments. Cinnamon Horchata was developed to further broaden Koia's flavour profile with something unique, exciting and indulgent.

“Like all Koia products, it's developed from a dairy-free, soy-free, almond milk base, making it a satisfying drink that just about everyone can enjoy."

The beverage maker has also partnered with new retailers, including Earth Origins Market, Natural Grocers, Erewhon Natural Foods, Bristol Farms, and Lassens Natural Foods and Vitamins in order to expand its customer base.

Koia products are also available from regional grocer Wegmans, which operates nearly 100 locations along the East Coast.
