Private equity firm Homestead Capital has purchased the 105-acre Sage Creek Vineyard located in the Chiles Valley of Napa County, US.

Homestead Capital intends to continue the vineyard as an independent wine grape grower, which provides fruit to Napa Valley wineries.

Planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, the vineyard also includes small blocks of other red Bordeaux varieties.

Homestead's permanent crops vice-president Alex Sauer said: "We are very excited to add the Sage Creek Vineyard to our permanent crop portfolio.

"The vineyard’s location in the Napa Valley American Viticultural Area provides us with a unique opportunity to establish a platform property focused on meeting the needs of high-end Napa Valley wineries."

The Sage Creek vineyard will be managed by one of Homestead’s Pacific region farm manager Richard Brockmeyer.

With offices in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and San Francisco, and California, Homestead invests in operating farmland across the Mountain West, Pacific, Midwest, and Delta regions of the US. The firm focuses on building a portfolio of assets across these regions.

Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
