Halewood International, a UK-based drinks firm, has purchased the Liverpool Gin brand for an undisclosed sum.

The purchase is expected to bolster Halewood’s spirits portfolio.

Halewood has been looking for opportunities to expand its product range, as well as improve its footprint in the UK and abroad.

“We’re looking forward to working closely with Halewood International in the coming months on their plans for the brand.”

This acquisition will enable Halewood to secure an opportunity to commence distilling of spirits on a large scale.

Liverpool Gin, which was founded in 2012, manufactures three gins; Liverpool Gin Original, Valencian Orange and Rose.

The Liverpool Gin products have an alcohol by volume of 42%. They are available in 70cl bottles in the UK.

Halewood CEO Stewart Hainsworth said: "Acquiring Liverpool Gin enhances our spirits portfolio and complements our other premium brands such as Whitley Neill Gin and our Whiskey portfolio.

"Liverpool Gin has been hugely successful since its creation, and we will ensure the essence of the brand remains whilst expanding its reach to audiences throughout the UK and beyond."

Liverpool Gin founding director Mark Hensby said: "This is a great opportunity to take the brand forward and strengthen its offering in the coming years. We’re looking forward to working closely with Halewood International in the coming months on their plans for the brand."
