Great Lakes Coca-Cola Distribution, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reyes Holdings, has been selected by Coca-Cola as its new partner for distribution in the greater Chicago area.

The agreement, which was signed by both the companies, follows a letter of intent announced in February with Reyes. The company expects it to close by 2015.

Under the terms of the agreement, Great Lakes Coca-Cola will distribute Coca-Cola products across the region.

Coca-Cola North America president Sandy Douglas said: "Reyes Holdings has a proven track record of building strong brands in mature markets with local customers and will be an important asset to our System.

"We’re proud to welcome Chris Reyes and Jude Reyes to the family of Coca-Cola franchise bottlers in North America."

Earlier in April 2013, Coca-Cola signed Letters of Intent with five US bottlers in order to create a stronger US business model by granting new, expanded territories.

The five bottlers included Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Swire Coca-Cola USA, Coca-Cola Bottling Company High Country and Corinth Coca-Cola Bottling Works.

Currently, Reyes Holdings has operations across North, Central and South America, as well as Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

The company annually supplies more than 800 million cases of high-quality, well-known beer and food products.
