Glasgow-based Finnieston Distillery Company is set to launch its canned Scotch whisky-blended cocktails across the UK.

The distiller is currently negotiating with supermarket retailers and on-trade outlets to launch its cocktail range this month.

Finnieston is said to have used its own blended Scotch whisky as a base for its new drink that has been created in collaboration with Douglas Laing and Co.

Finnieston Distillery Company CEO James Doig was quoted by drinksint.com as saying: “The customer response to last year’s pilot demonstrated there was a real demand for our cocktails.

“It also reinforced the research we’d conducted, which showed there was a broad target market, both male and female, for products which combined familiar cocktail names with the versatility of Scotland’s national drink.”

The Finnieston Distillery Scotch whisky cocktail range includes Finnieston Fling, Old Fashioned Green, Scotch On the Beach, and the Shanghai Sour.

Finnieston Fling will be offered with ginger ale, lemon and lime; Scotch On the Beach features ginger beer, vanilla and strawberry; while Shanghai Sour will come with honey and lemon flavours.

The company said it designed the new cocktail range targeting a global audience, however, the focus will be on the UK market initially.

Finnieston was formally known as Dram2O, according to foodbev.com.
