UK-based liquor company Diageo has opened a new services centre in Bengaluru, India.

This centre is the company's first in India and fifth in the world, with other service centres based in Manila, Nairobi, Budapest, and Bogota.

The centre in Bengaluru is named Diageo Business Services India (DBSI). It will intially provide finance and accounting services for the beverage company. Later, it will offer business intelligence, analytics and data services.

"We want to hire people who identify with the Diageo culture and spirit, with real potential to grow as the business grows."

Currently, the centre has 100 employees, and this figure will reach around 1,000 by the end of next year.

DBSI head of human resources Samarpita Banerjee was quoted by the Economic Times as saying: “We want to hire people who identify with the Diageo culture and spirit, with real potential to grow as the business grows.

"We are creating an open and inclusive culture that values diversity and inspires us to win together.”

Currently, the Bengaluru centre is functioning from an incubation centre and will shift to a permanent location before the end of this year.

DBSI managing director Tracey Barnes was quoted by Live Mint as saying: “The essence of our culture rests on two fundamental pillars.

"These are ‘how we work’; in an open, exciting and dynamic culture, where our employees care about doing the right things, the right way and know they can make a difference and second, ‘what we offer’; opportunities to grow in an environment where the best of Diageo globally meets the best of India.”
