Carlsberg has launched its popular drink Carlsberg Non-Alcoholic 0.5% in an organic variety in Sweden.

It is now expected that more than one in three non-alcoholic beers sold in Sweden will be organic upon the products’ introduction.

Carlsberg Sweden marketing manager Karin Atterfors said: “The great thing about beer is the taste, not the alcohol percentage, and we have seen that awareness about taste and ingredients has dramatically increased when it comes to beer.

“More and more consumers want to drink both non-alcoholic and organic; therefore, we are delighted to be able to combine the ‘green aspect’ with the non-alcoholic.”

Carlsberg Sweden has also made its other top brands completely organic, including Carlsberg 0.5%, and Carlsberg 3.5% 33cl.

Carlsberg Non-Alcoholic 0.5% organic beer has a malty taste with hints of white bread, grass and hops. The company claims that the Swedish public’s interest in non-alcoholic beer is currently greater than ever.

The last two years have seen Carlsberg-branded sales grow by 66% at Systembolaget, the state-owned chain of liquor stores in Sweden.

There is a growing interest in the specific ingredients of beer due to the recent ‘beer boom’ in the country. It is estimated that every third Swede opts to buy organic beer.
