UK-based soft drinks company Britvic is set to invest more than £100m in its factory in Rugby, Warwickshire.

The move is part of the firm’s £240m three-year investment programme, which aims to enhance the brand’s manufacturing capabilities. It is expected to generate 80 new jobs at the Rugby manufacturing site, including technical operators, engineers and team leaders.

As part of the investment strategy, Britvic has installed three new can lines, and construction work is in progress for a new on-site warehouse and aseptic line.

“Rugby has been a home to Britvic for more than 30 years.”

The installation improves logistics planning, reduces road miles and helps the company to reduce its carbon footprint.

With a collective production of 6,000 cans per minute, the new can lines led to waste reduction, increased production and greater flexibility.

Britvic chief supply chain officer Clive Hooper said: “Rugby has been a home to Britvic for more than 30 years.

“The site has undergone significant change in that time, from the 80s when we manually produced drinks through to the 90s when we moved to full automation, to our position today as the proud owners of some of the fastest can lines in Europe.”

Britvic has acquired the Rugby site in 1987, which produces Pepsi and Britvic cans sold in the UK. The company exports to more than 50 countries worldwide.
